- “A people with small eyes will come...” The hadith (4/474). Both deemed it authentic, although among the narrators below Abd Allah are some who have been criticized.
This is what I have been able to mention of the hadiths of Abd Allah and Sulayman, the two sons of Buraydah ibn al-Husayb—may Allah be pleased with him—from the authentic collections of al-Bukhari, Muslim, Ibn Hibban, and al-Hakim. No doubt some of the hadiths in the latter two collections have escaped me, but what has been cited is sufficient to demonstrate what I intended: namely, this man’s ignorance—or his feigned ignorance—for the scholars are agreed on the authenticity of the hadiths of these two noble sons. Thus the saying of our Lord, Exalted is He, applies to him:
“And whoever opposes the Messenger after guidance has become clear to him, and follows a way other than that of the believers, We will leave him to what he has chosen and drive him into Hell—an evil destination.”
For if he is ignorant, then he has gone against many texts commanding him and people like him to ask the scholars; and if he is ignorant, then he has gone against many texts commanding him and people like him to ask the scholars. But if he is feigning ignorance, the matter is too clear to require explanation after these dozens of hadiths deemed authentic by al-Bukhari and Muslim and others. Some of them explicitly state that Abd Allah heard from his father and met him, as mentioned above, along with those imams’ authentication of their hadiths. How well it has been said:
Nothing can be accepted by the mind,
if daylight itself needs proof.
- “Muslims are bound by their conditions.”
An authentic hadith by virtue of its combined chains. I had previously documented it in al-Irwa’ (5/142–146), through a number of the Prophet’s Companions—peace and blessings be upon him—whose reports are not collected together in any single book: Abu Hurayrah, Aishah, Anas ibn Malik, Amr ibn Awf, Rafi ibn Khadij, and Abd Allah ibn Umar. That made it unnecessary to document it again here. However, I have come across some new points concerning it which I wished to present to the noble readers, further strengthening the hadith beyond what was already mentioned and refuting the weakening of it by some followers of vain desires.
I therefore say:
