12 – The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

“Do not acquire an estate, lest you become attached to the worldly life.”

It was narrated by al-Tirmidhi (4/264), Abū Shaykh in al-Ṭabaqāt (p. 298), Abū Yaʿlā in his Musnad (1/251), al-Ḥākim (4/222), Aḥmad (nos. 2589, 4047) and al-Khaṭīb (1/18) through the chain of Shumr ibn ʿAṭiyya, from Mughīra ibn Saʿd ibn al-Akhram, from his father, from Ibn Masʿūd, traced back to the Prophet.

Al-Tirmidhi graded it ḥasan (sound), and al-Ḥākim said
