2879 — “Whoever gives two things in the cause of Allah will be called out in Paradise: ‘O servant of Allah, here is goodness!’ Whoever is among those distinguished by prayer will be called from the Gate of Prayer; whoever is among those distinguished by jihad will be called from the Gate of Jihad; whoever is among those distinguished by charity will be called from the Gate of Charity; and whoever is among those distinguished by fasting will be called from the Gate of al-Rayyan.” Abu Bakr al-Siddiq said, “O Messenger of Allah, one who is called from any of those gates has no need of any other; but will anyone be called from all of those gates?” He replied, “Yes, and I hope that you will be among them.”
Al-Bukhari (1897, 2841, 3216, and 3666), Muslim (3/91), al-Tirmidhi (3675), who graded it authentic, al-Nasa'i (1/312; 332–333; and 2/58), Ibn Hibban (1/263/308), and Malik in al-Muwatta' (2/24–25) transmitted it through Humayd ibn Abd al-Rahman, from Abu Hurayrah, who said that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said this.
Muslim also transmitted it through Abu Salamah ibn Abd al-Rahman, and Ahmad (2/366) through Abu Salih; both from Abu Hurayrah, in an abridged form: “Whoever gives two things in the cause of Allah will be called by the keepers of Paradise—each keeper of a gate calling: ‘O so-and-so, come!’” Abu Bakr said, “Such a person will suffer no loss.” Abu Salamah added that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “I truly hope that you will be among them.”
It has a brief supporting report from Abu Dharr, attributed to the Prophet, containing its first half but not the words, “O servant of Allah ...” and so forth.
