2862 — “Know that none of you will see his Lord until he dies, and that the letters k-f-r are written between his eyes; whoever detests his deeds will be able to read them.”
Muslim (8/193), al-Tirmidhi (2236), and Ibn Mandah in al-Maʿrifah (2/287/2) recorded it through al-Zuhri, who said: ʿUmar ibn Thabit al-Ansari informed me that one of the Companions of the Prophet informed him that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said on that occasion, while warning them of his tribulation—that is, the Dajjal—and then narrated it.
Al-Tirmidhi, whose wording is cited here, said: “Good and authentic.” The annotator of Sunan al-Tirmidhi attributed it to Abu Dawud from Anas, under no. 4318. This was an error on his part, for it is another hadith that contains nothing from the hadith under discussion except the statement about the writing between his eyes.
Note: In al-Fath al-Kabir, which incorporates al-Ziyadah into al-Jamiʿ al-Saghir, this hadith appears with al-Tirmidhi’s wording up to the words, “until he dies,” and is attributed to M and N. The letter N indicates Sunan al-Nasaʾi, but this is an error; the correct letter is T, meaning al-Tirmidhi. It appears correctly in the al-Zahiriyyah copy of al-Ziyadah ʿala al-Jamiʿ al-Saghir.
2863 — “Women are the counterparts of men.”
In al-Kashf (1/214), following its source, he stated: “Ahmad, Abu Dawud, and al-Tirmidhi narrated it from ʿAʾishah, while al-Bazzar narrated it from Anas. Ibn al-Qattan said: Its route from ʿAʾishah is weak, whereas its route from Anas is authentic.”
I say: As for the hadith of ʿAʾishah, it is through Hammad ibn Khalid al-Khayyat: ʿAbd Allah al-ʿUmari narrated to us from ʿUbayd Allah, from al-Qasim, from her. She said:
