Silsilat al-Ahadith al-SahihahNasir al-Din al-Albani

Ibn Majah recorded it (4161): al-Abbas ibn Uthman al-Dimashqi narrated to us; al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us; Isa ibn Abd al-Ala ibn Abi Farwah narrated to us: Ishaq ibn Abi Talhah narrated to me... This is how he named him: “Isa ibn Abd al-Ala ibn Abi Farwah.” Al-Dhahabi and others have stated that he is unknown. He is likewise named in another hadith concerning the Eid prayer in the mosque on a rainy day, also narrated by al-Walid from him; it is cited in Da'if Abi Dawud (The Weak Hadiths of Abu Dawud) (212). Thus, I do not know from whom the error arose: from al-Walid himself, or from al-Abbas ibn Uthman, who narrated from him. Ibn Hibban said in The Trustworthy Narrators (8/511): “He would sometimes contradict others.” Muhammad ibn Jafar al-Ramli contradicted him, saying: al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us; he said: Abd al-Ala ibn Abd Allah ibn Abi Farwah narrated to us, from Ishaq ibn Abd Allah ibn Abi Talhah, in an abridged form.
