and it likewise appears that way in some places in this hadith and others in our copy. The correct reading has been established from his biographical entry.
The chain of transmission reported by Aḥmad to which al-Haythamī referred is narrated by al-Qāsim ibn al-Faḍl, from Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī Abū Jaʿfar, from ʿĀʾishah: she used to incur debts, and she was asked, “Why do you take on debt?” She replied, “The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: ‘No servant who intends to repay his debt will fail to receive help from Allah, Most High.’ So I seek that help.” It was reported by Aḥmad (6/72, 99, 131, 234–235, and 250), as well as al-Ṭayālisī (1524) and al-Ḥākim (2/22), and by al-Bayhaqī (5/354) through the latter two.
Its narrators are trustworthy and are narrators of Muslim, except that its chain is interrupted between Abū Jaʿfar and ʿĀʾishah. However, it has also been narrated with a connected chain, and its documentation has preceded under no. (1000). Al-Ḥākim also gave it a connected chain through Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Mujabbir: ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn al-Qāsim narrated to us, from his father, from her. But Ibn Mujabbir is weak.
Waraqāʾ alone contradicted the group, narrating that ʿĀʾishah said: “I heard Abū al-Qāsim, peace and blessings be upon him, say: ‘Whoever has a debt and is concerned with repaying it—or intends to repay it—will continually have a guardian from Allah with him.’” It was reported by Aḥmad (6/255) and al-Ṭabarānī in al-Awsaṭ (1/219/2/3913).
