Moreover, al-Suyūṭī cited as supporting evidence a similar report attributed to the Prophet and narrated from Abū Hurayrah through Ibn Mardawayh. Its chain of transmission is weak, and its text is objectionable, with the wording: “The Day when people will stand before the Lord of all worlds, lasting three hundred years.” I therefore included it in al-Ḍaʿīfah (4149).
This portion of it is corroborated by an authentic report from Abū Hurayrah in the hadith: “No owner of hoarded wealth who does not pay its zakah but that it will be heated for him in the fire of Hell.” The hadith includes: “On a Day whose measure is fifty thousand years; then he will see his path, either to Paradise or to the Fire...” Muslim and others narrated it, and it is cited in Ṣaḥīḥ Abī Dāwūd (1462).
Another supporting report, similar in meaning, is narrated from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī with a weak chain of transmission, as in Takhrīj al-Mishkāh (5563). The hadith of Abū Hurayrah (1) has also been narrated with the wording: “The disbeliever will be kept standing on the Day of Resurrection for fifty thousand years. Indeed, he will see Hell and think that it is about to befall him, though it is forty years’ journey away.” Ibn Ḥibbān (2581—Mawārid), Aḥmad (3/75), al-Ḥākim (4/597), and Abū Yaʿlā (1385) narrated it. Its chain includes Abū al-Samḥ, who narrates objectionable reports. Ibn Ḥibbān then narrated it (2578) from him through an authentic chain, in a different and abridged wording:
