is disputed, as al-Busiri stated in al-Zawa'id (274/2, Maktab facsimile), yet he graded its chain of transmission good!
Al-Dhahabi said in al-Du'afa': “A somewhat righteous man; al-Nasa'i and others deemed him weak.” In al-Kashif, he said: “Al-Nasa'i deemed him weak, while others declared him trustworthy.” Al-Hafiz said in al-Taqrib: “They considered him weak in his narrations from 'Ali ibn Yazid al-Alhani.” I say: Thus, his hadiths are good except for those he narrated from al-Alhani. Imam Ahmad (4/155) narrated it: Abu 'Abd al-Rahman related to us: Ibn Lahi'ah related to us from Abu Qabil, who said: “I heard nothing from 'Uqbah ibn 'Amir except this hadith.” Ibn Lahi'ah said: “Yazid ibn Abi Habib also related it to me from Abu al-Khayr, from 'Uqbah ibn 'Amir al-Juhani, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say it,” and he then mentioned it.
Ibn 'Abd al-Hakam also narrated it in Futuh Misr (293): Al-Muqri' and Abu al-Aswad al-Nadr ibn 'Abd al-Jabbar related it to us from Ibn Lahi'ah, from Abu Qabil alone. I say: This hadith is among Ibn Lahi'ah’s authentic hadiths, for it is transmitted from him by Abu 'Abd al-Rahman, whose name was 'Abdullah ibn Yazid al-Muqri' al-Makki; he was trustworthy and one of the narrators
