Note on some errors: First, al-Shawkani, in Tuhfat al-Dhakirin (p. 63), attributed this hadith of Abu Hurayrah to the Musnad of Abu Bakr, whereas it is from the Musnad of Abu Hurayrah. Second, he attributed the addition to the hadith of Abu Bakr, whereas it is from the hadith of Ibn ‘Amr. Third, Shaykh Fadl Allah al-Jilani said in Sharh al-Adab al-Mufrad (2/613), under the hadith of Ibn ‘Amr: “It was recorded by the three, and authenticated by al-Hakim and Ibn Hibban.” I say: This is sheer error, for none of those mentioned narrated it except al-Tirmidhi.

I say: This is an authentic chain of transmission; its narrators are trustworthy narrators of the Sahih, except Ahmad ibn
