Al-Nasaʾi also recorded it in al-Yawm wa al-Laylah (795), and al-Tabarani in al-Duʿaʾ (2/923/288), through other routes from Shuʿbah, with it.
As for the latter, Hushaym, another group of trustworthy narrators transmitted it from him, from Yaʿla, with it. It was recorded by al-Bukhari in The Acts and al-Adab al-Mufrad, Abu Dawud (5067), al-Nasaʾi (4/401/7691 and 4/403/7699), al-Hakim (1/513), Abu Yaʿla in his Musnad (1/26), and Ibn al-Sunni in ʿAmal al-Yawm wa al-Laylah (no. 43), through various routes from him. Al-Hakim said: “Its chain is authentic.” Al-Dhahabi concurred, and in al-Hakim’s version Hushaym explicitly stated that he had heard it directly.
Note: Ibn Taymiyyah cited this hadith of Abu Hurayrah in al-Kalim al-Tayyib (no. 42), only through al-Tirmidhi’s narration, up to the words: “and his associationism.” Ibn Taymiyyah then said: “In another version: ‘and that I should commit evil against myself, or bring it upon a Muslim. Say it when you rise in the morning ...’ Al-Tirmidhi said: ‘A good, authentic hadith.’” I commented on this, noting that this version is not found in al-Tirmidhi as a narration from Abu Hurayrah; rather, it is from the hadith of Ibn ʿAmr.
I then found that Ibn al-Qayyim had gone further than his teacher—though both were mistaken—in al-Wabil al-Sayyib: he omitted the words, “In another version”! Thus, the addition came to appear explicitly as part of al-Tirmidhi’s hadith from Abu Hurayrah. This is a manifest error.
In his annotation on al-Wabil al-Sayyib (p. 202), Shaykh Ismaʿil al-Ansari, as was his habit, did not address this error. He merely stated that the words, “that I should commit ...,” occur in the hadith of Abu Hurayrah in al-Bukhari’s The Creation of the Acts of the Servants; then he cited its chain through Muhammad ibn Bashshar, from Ghundar. Yet you have already learned that this addition does not occur in al-Bukhari
