I say: This is an authentic chain of transmission. This al-Thaqafi was declared trustworthy by Ahmad and Ibn Hibban. Yaʿla ibn ʿAta is trustworthy and one of Muslim’s narrators, and both Shuʿbah and Hushaym narrated it from him.
As for the former, a number of trustworthy narrators related it from him:
-
Abu Dawud al-Tayalisi, who said in his Musnad (2582): “Shuʿbah narrated it to us.” Al-Tirmidhi (3389) recorded it through al-Tayalisi’s route and said: “A good, authentic hadith.”
-
Muhammad ibn Jaʿfar, Ghundar. Ibn Abi Shaybah (10/237/9323) and Ahmad (2/297) said: “Muhammad ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us; Shuʿbah narrated to us,” with it. Al-Bukhari recorded it in The Creation of the Acts of the Servants (pp. 74 and 94, Indian edition), and al-Nasaʾi in al-Kubra (4/408/7714); both said: “Muhammad ibn Bashshar narrated to us: Ghundar narrated to us,” with it. Except that an addition occurs in the second place in The Acts, which will be discussed, Allah willing.
-
Saʿid ibn al-Rabiʿ: “Shuʿbah narrated to us,” with it. Al-Bukhari recorded it in The Acts and in al-Adab al-Mufrad (no. 1202).
-
Saʿid ibn ʿAmir, from Shuʿbah, with it. Al-Darimi (2/292) recorded it: “Saʿid ibn ʿAmir informed us,” with it.
-
Al-Nadr ibn Shumayl: “Shuʿbah narrated to us,” with it. Ibn Hibban recorded it in his Sahih (2349—Mawarid).
6 and 7. Bahz and ʿAffan both said: “Shuʿbah narrated to us,” with it. Ahmad recorded it (1/9 and 10).
