The first: from al-Walid ibn Muslim: ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Yazid ibn Jabir narrated to us: Busr ibn ‘Ubayd Allah al-Hadrami told me that he heard Abu Idris al-Khawlani say: I heard Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman say—and he then cited it. It was recorded by al-Bukhari (3606 and 7084), Muslim (6/20), Abu ‘Awanah (5/574–576), al-Tabarani in Musnad al-Shamiyyin (p. 109/1), al-Dani in al-Fitan (folio 4/1), and Ibn Majah, who recorded part of it (2/475). Muslim includes in it the sixth and ninth additions, while Abu ‘Awanah includes the second and sixth additions.
The second: from Mu‘awiyah ibn Salam: Zayd ibn Salam narrated to us from Abu Salam, who said: Hudhayfah said ... and he then cited it in abridged form. Muslim recorded it, including the first addition, what is found in the other route, and the seventh and tenth additions. It has been criticized for a break in its chain; however, al-Tabarani related it with a connected chain in al-Mu‘jam al-Awsat (1/162/2/3039), through ‘Umar ibn Rashid al-Yamami, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from Zayd ibn Salam, from his father, from his grandfather, from Hudhayfah, including the additions found in the other route, as well as the seventh and tenth additions. Al-Suyuti cited it in al-Jami‘ al-Kabir (4/361), more fully, on the authority of Ibn ‘Asakir.
The third: from Subay‘—also said to be Khalid—ibn Khalid al-Yashkuri, from Hudhayfah, with the same report. It was recorded by Abu ‘Awanah (5/476), Abu Dawud (4244–4247), al-Nasa’i in al-Kubra (5/17/8032), and al-Tayalisi in his Musnad (442 and 443).
