2731 — “O ʿAishah, beware of insignificant sins, for Allah will call one to account for them.”
It was recorded by al-Dārimī (2/303), Ibn Mājah (2/560, al-Tāziyyah edition), Ibn Ḥibbān in his Ṣaḥīḥ (2797), Aḥmad (6/70 and 151), and al-Ḥārith in his Musnad (folio 128/2, its supplementary material), through several routes from Saʿīd ibn Muslim ibn Bānak, who said: I heard ʿĀmir ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Zubayr say: ʿAwf ibn al-Ḥārith narrated to me from ʿAishah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to me—then he mentioned the hadith.
I say: Al-Būṣīrī said in Zawāʾid Ibn Mājah (folio 262/1): “This is an authentic chain of transmission, and its narrators are trustworthy. It was also recorded by Abū Bakr ibn Abī Shaybah, Abū Yaʿlā in his Musnad, and al-Nasāʾī in al-Riqāq.”
I say: Its narrators are all among Muslim’s narrators, apart from Ibn Bānak—the nūn being vocalized with a fatḥah—who is trustworthy, as stated in al-Taqrīb. When al-Ḥāfiẓ mentioned Ibn Ḥibbān’s authentication of it in al-Fatḥ (11/329), he made no comment on it, thereby endorsing it. This hadith has two more complete corroborating reports, from Sahl ibn Saʿd and ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd. Al-Ḥāfiẓ judged the chain of the former to be good; its documentation has preceded under no. 389. The latter is documented in al-Rawḍ al-Naḍīr, no. 351.
Note: The printed edition of al-Dārimī includes the additional name “Mālik” in the chain of transmission; this is an error.
2732 — “Indeed, Allah, exalted is He—or, in another wording, ‘Perhaps Allah’—looked upon the people of Badr and said: ‘Do whatever you wish, for I have forgiven you.’”
It was recorded by Abū Dāwūd (2/265, al-Tāziyyah edition), Ibn Ḥibbān (2220, Mawārid), and al-Ḥākim
