Silsilat al-Ahadith al-SahihahNasir al-Din al-Albani

Abū Muʿāwiyah also corroborated him: al-Aʿmash narrated it to us from the same chain, except that he said: “What are I and my wealth but yours, O Messenger of Allah?” Ibn Abī Shaybah (12/759) and Aḥmad (2/252) narrated it from him; likewise, Ibn Mājah (1/49), Ibn Abī ʿĀṣim (1229), and Ibn Ḥibbān (2166) narrated it through several routes from him. It too is authentic, like the one preceding it.

It has another route, narrated by Maḥbūb ibn Muḥriz al-Qawārīrī, from Dāwūd ibn Yazīd al-Umawī, from his father, from Abū Hurayrah, with the same wording. Al-Tirmidhī (3262) narrated it and said: “A good, singular hadith through this route.” I say: Maḥbūb is weak in hadith, Dāwūd is weak, and his father is deemed acceptable by Ibn Ḥajar. Thus, al-Tirmidhī’s judgment would be acceptable, had he not said, “singular...” For this contradicts the possibility that he meant it to be good on account of corroboration by other reports.

2719 — “He had his thigh uncovered. Abū Bakr sought permission to enter, and he permitted him while remaining in that state. Then ʿUmar sought permission, and he permitted him while remaining in that state. Then ʿUthmān sought permission, so he let down part of his garment over it. When they had left, I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, Abū Bakr sought permission to enter while you were in that state...’” The report continues: He said, “O ʿĀʾishah, should I not feel shy before a man before whom, by Allah, the angels feel shy?”

Ibn Rāhūyah narrated it in his Musnad (108/1): Marwān ibn Muʿāwiyah al-Fazārī informed us; ʿAbd Allah ibn Sayyār, the freedman of Banū Ṭalḥah ibn ʿUbayd Allah al-Qurashī, informed us. He said: I heard ʿĀʾishah bint Ṭalḥah relate from ʿĀʾishah, the Mother of the Believers, who said: Then she mentioned it.
