2662 — “Allah, the Exalted, created Paradise from one brick of gold and one brick of silver, with musk as its mortar. Then He said to it, ‘Speak,’ and it said, ‘The believers have certainly prospered.’ The angels said, ‘How blessed you are—the dwelling-place of kings!’”
Al-Bazzār said: Muḥammad ibn al-Muthannā narrated to us: al-Mughīrah ibn Salamah narrated to us: Wuhayb narrated to us, from al-Jurayrī, from Abū Naḍrah, from Abū Saʿīd, who said: He then related it as a report attributed to the Companion. He then said: Bishr ibn Ādam narrated to us: Yūnus ibn ʿUbayd Allāh al-ʿUmarī narrated to us: ʿAdī ibn al-Faḍl narrated to us: al-Jurayrī ... with the same report attributed to the Prophet. Al-Bazzār then said: “We know of no one who attributed it to the Prophet except ʿAdī ibn al-Faḍl. He was not a hadith master, and he was a shaykh who died long ago.”
This is how al-Ḥāfiẓ Ibn Kathīr cited it from al-Bazzār in his exegesis, with both chains: the one attributed to the Companion and the one attributed to the Prophet. It also appears thus in Zawāʾid al-Bazzār (317), except that it has: “Ḥajjāj ibn al-Minhāl narrated to us: Ḥammād ibn Salamah narrated to us,” in place of: “al-Mughīrah ibn Salamah narrated to us: Wuhayb narrated to us.” I do not know whether this is a copyist’s error, or whether al-Bazzār had two chains to al-Jurayrī: one through Wuhayb from him, and the other through Ḥammād ibn Salamah from him. Ibn Kathīr transmitted one of them, and al-Haythamī the other. Whichever is the case, both chains are authentic according to Muslim’s criteria as reports attributed to the Companion; yet they carry the ruling of reports attributed to the Prophet. For al-Haythamī said in Majmaʿ al-Zawāʾid (10/397): “The narrators of the report attributed to the Companion are narrators of the Ṣaḥīḥ, and Abū Saʿīd would not say this except on the basis of Prophetic instruction.”
The ʿAdī ibn al-Faḍl who attributed it to the Prophet is al-Taymī, Abū Ḥātim al-Baṣrī, whose weakness is agreed upon. However, al-Mundhirī said (4/252): “Wuhayb ibn Khālid corroborated him in attributing it to the Prophet through al-Jurayrī, with the wording: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:”
