this Ibrāhīm. Ibn Abī Ḥātim profiled him (1/1/127), on the authority of two trustworthy narrators who reported from him, but did not mention any negative or positive evaluation of him. He meets Ibn Ḥibbān’s criteria for inclusion among the trustworthy narrators in his work, and Ibn Ḥibbān did include him in its section on the Followers of the Successors (2/7—al-Ẓāhiriyyah manuscript).
It is corroborated by Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Ḥasan ibn Ayyūb al-Ḥaḍramī, who said: “ʿAbd Allāh ibn Busr showed me a mole on his head, and I placed my finger on it. He said: ‘The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, placed his finger on it and then said: “You will live to reach a century.”’” Abū ʿAbd Allāh said: “He had a full head of hair.” It was transmitted by Aḥmad (4/189), and from him by Ibn ʿAsākir; also by al-Dūlābī in al-Kunā (2/55), and by al-Bazzār in his Musnad (3/280—Kashf al-Astār).
I say: Its three-narrator chain is good. Al-Haythamī said (9/405): “Al-Ṭabarānī and Aḥmad transmitted something similar. The narrators in Aḥmad’s chain are all narrators of the Ṣaḥīḥ collections, apart from al-Ḥasan ibn Ayyūb, who is trustworthy; and al-Ṭabarānī’s narrators are trustworthy.” He also cited a similar version through al-Ṭabarānī and al-Bazzār and said: “The narrators in one of al-Bazzār’s two chains are all narrators of the Ṣaḥīḥ collections, apart from al-Ḥasan ibn Ayyūb al-Ḥaḍramī, who is trustworthy.”
It is also corroborated by Salāmah ibn Jawwās: “Muḥammad ibn al-Qāsim al-Ṭāʾī informed us from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Busr with this report,” adding: “I said: ‘May my father and mother be sacrificed for you, Messenger of Allah! How long is a century?’ He replied: ‘One hundred years.’ ʿAbd Allāh said: ‘I lived for ninety-five years, and five years remained for the statement of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, to be fulfilled.’ Muḥammad said: ‘We then counted five years thereafter, and then—’” Ibn ʿAsākir transmitted it.
