“He said: ‘Indeed, we asked the Messenger of Allah about that, and he said: ...’” Thus, he inserted the words “the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him” into it. It is possible that this addition occurs in some of the early copies of Sahih Muslim. And Allah knows best.

2634 — “Whoever drinks wine in this world and does not repent will not drink it in the Hereafter, even if he is admitted into Paradise.”

Al-Bayhaqi recorded it in The Branches of Faith (2/148/1), through Hafs ibn ‘Abdullah, who said: Ibrahim ibn Tahman narrated to me, from Ayyub, from Nafi‘—and from Musa ibn ‘Uqbah, from Nafi‘—from Ibn ‘Umar, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: ... Then he mentioned it.
