I say: Ahmad (3/277) recorded it through Shuʿbah, with it attributed to the Companion. Its chain of transmission is authentic, and it has the ruling of a report attributed to the Prophet, since this is not something that can be said on the basis of personal opinion. It is therefore no wonder that Imam Ahmad included it in al-Musnad.
A report conveying the meaning of the remainder of the hadith is that of Rafiʿ al-Hajabi, who heard ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿAmr attribute to the Prophet: “The Corner and the Station are two rubies from Paradise. Had it not been for the sins of the children of Adam that touched them, they would have illuminated all that lies between east and west. No one afflicted by an infirmity or illness touches them but is healed.” Al-Bayhaqi recorded it with a good chain of transmission. Al-Tirmidhi and others also recorded it, in abridged form, through another route. It is cited in al-Mishkat (2579).
2619 — “Had it not been for the impurities of the pre-Islamic age that touched it, no one afflicted by an infirmity would touch it without being healed; and there is nothing else from Paradise on earth.”
Al-Bayhaqi recorded it in al-Sunan (5/75) through Yusuf ibn Yaʿqub: Musaddad narrated to us; Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to us from Ibn Jurayj, from ʿAtaʾ, from ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿAmr, who attributed it to the Prophet. I say: All the narrators in this chain are trustworthy and among al-Bukhari’s narrators, except Yusuf ibn Yaʿqub. He was Abu Muhammad al-Basri, the judge, a trustworthy memorizer of hadith. Al-Khatib gave his biography in his Tarikh (14/310–312), as did al-Dhahabi in Tadhkirat al-Huffaz. Were it not for Ibn Jurayj’s ambiguous use of the “from” transmission formula, I would have said that it is an authentic chain of transmission.
However, it has a corroborating report from Ibn ʿAbbas, may Allah be pleased with them, transmitted through three routes. The first was recorded by al-Tirmidhi and others, from ʿAtaʾ ibn al-Saʾib, from Saʿid ibn Jubayr, from him, with similar wording in its latter portion. It has already been discussed above.
