Silsilat al-Ahadith al-SahihahNasir al-Din al-Albani

And it has another corroborating report, which I mentioned there.

The third route: Qatādah reported from Sālim ibn Abī al-Jaʿd, from Maʿdān ibn Abī Ṭalḥah al-Yaʿmurī, from Abū Nujayḥ al-Sulamī, who attributed it to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). However, he did not mention its second passage. It was recorded by Abū Dāwūd (3965), al-Nasāʾī in al-Kubrā (3/169/4879), al-Ṭaḥāwī (1/312), al-Ṭayālisī (1154), and al-Bayhaqī through al-Ṭayālisī; and by Aḥmad (4/113 and 384), through Hishām ibn Abī ʿAbd Allāh from Qatādah. ʿAbd al-Ṣamad also corroborated him in reporting it from Qatādah. Abū Nujayḥ was ʿAmr ibn ʿAbasah, may Allah be pleased with him. Ibn Ḥibbān recorded it (1208).

I say: This is an authentic chain with a continuous chain, meeting Muslim’s criteria. This route is the soundest of all the preceding routes, Allah willing.

The first and second passages also have a supporting report in the narration of Ayyūb from Abū Qilābah: Shuraḥbīl ibn Ḥasanah said, “Is there any man who can relate something to us from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?” ʿAmr ibn ʿAbasah replied, “I can.” He said, “Fear Allah and be cautious.” He said, “I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say...” Then he mentioned both passages, except that in the second passage he said: “Whoever emancipates two slaves, they will be his ransom...” Ayyūb said, “I understood him to mean two women.” Al-Ṭaḥāwī recorded it (1/313).

I say: Its chain is authentic, provided it is free from Abū Qilābah’s concealment in transmission. Ayyūb’s statement is supported by the preceding narrations, for they state this explicitly. And Allah knows best.

The hadith also has a supporting report containing its three passages, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAwf, who attributed it to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Al-Ṭabarānī recorded it in al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr (1/16/2): “ʿAmr ibn
