2604 — “There are four kinds of people and six kinds of deeds. As for people: 1. one who is granted abundance in this world and the Hereafter; 2. one who is granted abundance in this world but whose provision is restricted in the Hereafter; 3. one whose provision is restricted in this world but who is granted abundance in the Hereafter; and 4. one who is wretched in this world and the Hereafter.
“The deeds are: 1 and 2, two that entail an inevitable outcome; 3 and 4, like for like; 5, tenfold; and 6, seven hundredfold. 1 and 2—the two that entail an inevitable outcome—are these: whoever dies as a Muslim believer, associating nothing with Allah, Paradise becomes due to him; and whoever dies as a disbeliever, the Fire becomes due to him. 3 and 4: whoever intends a good deed but does not do it, and Allah knows that he has impressed it upon his heart and is eager for it, one good deed is recorded for him. Whoever intends an evil deed, it is not recorded against him; but if he does it, one evil deed is recorded, and it is not multiplied. 5: whoever performs a good deed will have ten like it. 6: whoever spends in the way of Allah will have seven hundredfold.”
