2566 — “Whoever publicizes his deeds for people to hear of them, Allah will expose him before all His creation on the Day of Resurrection, humiliating and belittling him.”
It was recorded by Ibn al-Mubarak in al-Zuhd (no. 141), Ahmad in his Musnad (nos. 6509, 6986, and 7085), al-Tabarani in al-Awsat (4/484—Islamic University photocopy), and Abu Nu'aym in al-Hilyah (4/124 and 5/99), through several routes from Amr ibn Murrah, from Khaythamah, from Abdullah ibn Amr, attributed to the Prophet. Al-Tabarani then recorded it through the route of Muhammad ibn Sulayman ibn Abi Dawud: “My father narrated to us from Abd al-Karim ibn Malik, from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib, who said: I heard Abdullah ibn Amr,” and he mentioned something similar. He said: “No one narrated it from Sa'id except Abd al-Karim.”
I say: He is Abu Sa'id al-Jazari al-Harrani, a trustworthy narrator relied upon by both al-Bukhari and Muslim. However, the narrator from him, Sulayman ibn Abi Dawud—who is al-Harrani—was declared weak by Abu Hatim and others. As for his son Muhammad, he is trustworthy. Yet the first chain of transmission is authentic according to the conditions of the two Shaykhs, and it is therefore the one relied upon. Al-Hafiz al-Mundhiri alluded to this when he said in al-Targhib (1/31): “Al-Tabarani narrated it in al-Kabir through several chains, one of which is authentic, and so did al-Bayhaqi.”
2567 — “How excellent are those of my Ummah who clean between their teeth.”
It was recorded by al-Tabarani in al-Awsat (1/39—Islamic University photocopy), who said: Ahmad narrated to us; Muhammad ibn Ammar al-Mawsili narrated to us; Afif ibn Salim narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Abi Hafs al-Ansari, from Ruqbah ibn Mithqalah, from Anas ibn Malik, attributed to the Prophet. He said:
