Dawud and others, while overlooking the corroborating narration of Thabit al-Bunani from him in Abu Dawud and elsewhere. See my documentation of the hadith below, no. 3288. The reason for the aforementioned inconsistency then became clear to me: when al-Tabarani narrated the hadith in al-Awsat (2/9/2/5219, according to my numbering), he transmitted it through the aforementioned route of Ismaʿil ibn ʿAyyash—his narration of it in al-Muʿjam al-Kabir and elsewhere—from al-ʿAbbas ibn ʿUtbah, from ʿAtaʾ ibn Abi Rabah, but said, “from Ibn ʿAbbas,” in place of “from Ibn ʿUmar.” This error is attributable either to al-ʿAbbas or to Ismaʿil ibn ʿAyyash. Allah knows best. I then saw that al-Hafiz cited Ibn Hibban’s hadith as narrated by Ibn Hibban and said (11/109): “Al-Tabarani also narrated something similar in al-Awsat, on the authority of Ibn ʿAbbas, with a good chain of transmission.”
2540 — “The people of Paradise will enter Paradise, and there will remain in it whatever Allah wills; then Allah, Exalted is He, will create for it—that is, a creation—until He fills it.”
Imam Ahmad (3/152) narrated it: ʿAbd al-Samad related to us: Hammad related to us, from Thabit, from Anas, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said it. I say: This is an authentic chain of transmission according to Muslim’s conditions. Muslim (8/152) and Abu Yaʿla (3/892) also narrated it through the route of ʿAffan: Hammad related to us, with the same chain. Qatadah also corroborated him, from Anas, with the same wording. It was narrated by al-Bukhari (7384), Muslim, and Ahmad (3/134, 141, and 231).
