I then found a supporting transmission for al-Mughirah, narrated by Abu Farwah, who said: “My father related to me from his father: Sulayman al-A‘mash narrated it to us.” Ibn Jami‘ recorded it in his Mu‘jam al-Shuyukh (Dictionary of Teachers).
I say: This Abu Farwah is Yazid ibn Muhammad ibn Yazid ibn Sinan al-Ruhawi. Ibn Abi Hatim mentioned him (4/2/288), noting that a number of people, including Abu Muhammad, narrated from him; then he said: “He wrote to my father and to me.” Ibn Hibban mentioned him in al-Thiqat (The Trustworthy Narrators) (9/276) and said: “Abu ‘Urubah narrated from him. He died in al-Ruha in 269 AH.” His son, Muhammad ibn Yazid ibn Sinan, is not strong, as stated in al-Taqrib; and Yazid ibn Sinan is weak.

Did I not find you unaware and guide you? Did I not find you in need and enrich you? Did I not expand your breast and relieve you of your burden?’ He said: ‘So I replied: “Yes, my Lord!” [Then I wished that I had not asked Him].’”
Al-Hakim recorded it (2/526)—and the two additions are his—as did al-Bayhaqi in Dala’il al-Nubuwwah (Proofs of Prophethood) (vol. 2, manuscript), al-Tabarani in al-Mu‘jam al-Kabir (3/155/2, manuscript; and 11/455/12289, printed edition) and al-Mu‘jam al-Awsat (1/210/3394, according to my numbering), and Ibn Abi
