2512 — “No one dies as a miscarried fetus or in decrepit old age—for people fall between those two extremes—without being resurrected at the age of thirty. If he is among the people of Paradise, he will have Adam’s likeness, Joseph’s appearance, and Job’s heart. Whoever is among the people of the Fire will be enlarged—or made massive—like mountains.”
Al-Ṭabarānī recorded it in al-Awsaṭ (2/302/1): Haytham ibn Khālid narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Kabīr ibn al-Muʿāfā narrated to us; Hushaym narrated to us, from ʿUbaydah, from Ibrāhīm, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUbayd Allāh al-Hāshimī, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUkaym, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said—and he then mentioned it. He said: “No one narrated it from ʿUbaydah except Hushaym, and ʿAbd al-Kabīr ibn al-Muʿāfā was alone in narrating it.”
I say: Ibn Abī Ḥātim said (3/1/63): “My father heard from him and narrated from him, and he said: ‘He was trustworthy and well-regarded, and was counted among the Abdāl.’” I say: The defect lies with those above him in the chain. Hushaym—namely, Ibn Bashīr al-Wāsiṭī—despite being trustworthy and highly precise, frequently practiced concealment in transmission, as stated in al-Taqrīb. As for his shaykh, ʿUbaydah—namely, Ibn Muʿtab al-Ḍabbī—al-Dhahabī said in al-Ḍuʿafāʾ: “Aḥmad said: ‘They abandoned his hadith.’” Al-Haythamī said in Majmaʿ al-Zawāʾid (1/218): “It includes ʿUbaydah ibn Muʿtab, whose weakness is unanimously agreed upon.”
