And its chain of transmission is authentic. He then transmitted (1638) through Maʿmar, from Thābit, from Abū Rāfiʿ, who said:
“Pharaoh drove four stakes into his wife. Then a huge millstone was placed upon her stomach until she died.”
This is authentic. Yet, despite being a report attributed to a Companion, it is mursal.
2509 — “If there were one hundred thousand—or more—people in this mosque, and among them were a man from the inhabitants of the Fire who exhaled, and his breath reached them, the mosque and everyone in it would be burned.”
Al-Bazzār transmitted it (3499), as did Abū Yaʿlā in al-Musnad (4/1573–1574), Ibn Abī al-Dunyā in Ṣifat al-Nār (folio 8/2), and Abū Nuʿaym in al-Ḥilyah (4/307), whose version is cited here, through Isḥāq ibn Abī Isrāʾīl, who said: Abū ʿUbaydah al-Ḥaddād narrated to us; he said: Hishām ibn Ḥassān narrated to us, from Muḥammad ibn Shabīb, from Jaʿfar ibn Abī Waḥshiyyah, from Saʿīd ibn Jubayr, from Abū Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said it.
Abū Nuʿaym said: “It is singular among the reports of Saʿīd; Abū ʿUbaydah alone transmitted it from Hishām.”
I say: Its chain of transmission is authentic. All its narrators are trustworthy and are covered in al-Tahdhīb, apart from Muḥammad ibn Shabīb—al-Zahrānī—whose biography was recorded by Ibn Abī Ḥātim. He said (3/2/285): “He narrated from al-Ḥasan and ʿAbd al-Malik ibn ʿUmayr; Hishām al-Dastuwāʾī, Hishām ibn Ḥassān, and Ḥammād ibn Zayd narrated from him. My father mentioned, from Isḥāq ibn Manṣūr, from Yaḥyā ibn Maʿīn, that he said: ‘Muḥammad ibn Shabīb al-Zahrānī is trustworthy.’”
