2506 — “No servant seeks refuge from the Fire seven times in a day without the Fire saying: ‘O Lord, Your servant so-and-so has sought Your protection from me, so grant him protection.’ And no servant asks Allah for Paradise seven times in a day without Paradise saying: ‘O Lord, Your servant so-and-so has asked You for me, so admit him into Paradise.’”
Abū Yaʿlā recorded it in his Musnad (4/1472–1473), as did al-Ḍiyāʾ in Ṣifat al-Jannah (3/89/1): Abū Khaythamah narrated to us: Jarīr informed us, from Yūnus, from Abū Ḥāzim, from Abū Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him, said it. Al-Ḍiyāʾ said: “In my view, this hadith meets the criteria of the two Ṣaḥīḥs.” Al-Mundhirī said the same before him in al-Targhīb (4/222), and Ibn al-Qayyim followed them in Ḥādī al-Arwāḥ (1/148). It is as they said. The explanation is as follows:
-
Abū Ḥāzim was Salmān al-Ashjaʿī al-Kūfī, and he was trustworthy without disagreement. It is said that he died during the caliphate of ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz.
-
Yūnus was Ibn Yazīd al-Aylī. Al-Dhahabī said: “Trustworthy and an authority. Ibn Saʿd alone differed in saying: ‘He is not an authority …’” Al-Ḥāfiẓ said: “Trustworthy, except that he made occasional errors in his narrations from al-Zuhrī, and mistakes in his narrations from others besides al-Zuhrī.”
-
Jarīr was Ibn Ḥāzim al-Azdī al-Baṣrī. Al-Dhahabī said: “One of the great, trustworthy imams. Had Ibn ʿAdī not mentioned him, I would not have included him.” Al-Ḥāfiẓ said:
