to me later, such as the omission of hadith numbers (2520, 2551, 2576, 2639, 2658, 2723, 2748, 2764, 2813, 2827, 2878, and 2883), and others.
What I have mentioned here prompts me to point out a very important matter. It concerns what some of the ignorant innovators of this age have seized upon—those who have filled treatises and books with attacks against the sunnah and its people, and with attempts to cast doubt upon its transmitters and callers. One such person is al-Saqqaf, ruined by his fanaticism and steeped in his ignorance. He has exploited a number of these differing scholarly judgments or academic revisions, labeling them “contradictions,” when they are nothing but the deficiencies of his own mind and the disorders of his thought, which have manifested themselves as hostility in his heart and incitement in his pen!
As for the people of justice and fairness, they regard such scholarly positions as a mark of elevated integrity and excellence in rendering to people what is due to them.
Moreover, I would remind the reader-brothers that many of those “contradictions” whose mention that insolent al-Saqqaf has filled pages with are simply the result of his deceiving the readers, his attempts to mislead them, and his manipulation of their minds. This is, Allah willing, not hidden from anyone with even the slightest involvement in the sciences of the sunnah, or the least acquaintance with the methods of innovators in writing. (1)
