The other reports were referred to by the Shīʿī ʿAbd al-Ḥusayn in his al-Murājaʿāt (p. 38), without any scrutiny whatsoever of their chains of transmission—as is his habit with all the hadiths in his book. His aim is merely to amass everything that appears to support his school, whether authentic or not, in accordance with their maxim: “The end justifies the means!” So beware of him and of his reports.
Nor is this all: he misleads the readers—or rather, if I may say so, lies to them. In the place cited, while documenting this rejected—indeed, false—report of Abū Saʿīd, he stated: “It was recorded by more than one of the authors of the Sunan collections, such as Imam al-Wāḥidī ...!” The falsity of his statement is evident from the fact that even beginners in this field know that al-Wāḥidī was not among the authors of the Four Sunan; rather, he was a Qurʾan commentator who transmitted, through his chains, both sound and unsound reports. This hadith of Abū Saʿīd is among those that are not authentic, for he recorded it through a chain containing a narrator deemed abandoned and severely weak, as has been explained in the cited place in al-Ḍaʿīfah.
This has been the habit of the Shīʿah, both ancient and modern: they deem it lawful to lie against Ahl al-Sunnah, and put this into practice in their books and sermons, after having explicitly declared taqiyyah (religious dissimulation) lawful. Khomeini explicitly stated this in his book Kashf al-Asrār (pp. 147–148). It is no secret to anyone that taqiyyah is the sister of lying. Hence the one most knowledgeable about them, Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, said: “The Shīʿah are the most mendacious of the sects.”
I myself have experienced their lies firsthand in some of their writings, particularly those of this ʿAbd al-Ḥusayn; the proof is before you. Beyond the lie just mentioned, he led readers to imagine that this hadith is an unquestioned matter among Ahl al-Sunnah, by remaining silent about its hidden defect and claiming that it has numerous routes. Yet Khomeini was more explicit in his lie, for in the aforementioned book (p. 149) he plainly stated that the Verse of Infallibility was revealed on the day of Ghadīr Khumm concerning the imamate of ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib, with the acknowledgment of Ahl al-Sunnah and the agreement of the Shīʿah. Thus he said—may Allah deal with him as he deserves. I shall further clarify this matter in al-Ḍaʿīfah, Allah Most High willing.
