Moreover, this hadith has many supporting reports; a considerable number of sound ones have already been mentioned under Hadith 2439.
2472 — “A woman was praying behind the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, [a beautiful woman, among the most beautiful of people]. Some men would pray in the last rows of the men and look at her. One of them would look at her from beneath his armpit [when he bowed], while another would move forward to the first row so that he would not see her. Thereupon Allah, exalted is He, revealed this verse: ‘We certainly know those of you who came before, and We certainly know those who came after.’”
Abū Dāwūd al-Ṭayālisī recorded it in his Musnad (2712): “Nūḥ ibn Qays narrated to us. He said: ʿAmr ibn Mālik al-Nukarī narrated to me, from Abū al-Jawzāʾ, from Ibn ʿAbbās, who said …”
I say: This is an authentic chain of transmission. Its narrators are trustworthy and are among Muslim’s narrators, apart from ʿAmr ibn Mālik al-Nukarī, who is trustworthy, as al-Dhahabī said in al-Mīzān, where he mentioned him for purposes of differentiation. Those who authenticated this hadith, mentioned below, also declared him trustworthy.
Al-Bayhaqī also recorded it in his Sunan (3/98) through al-Ṭayālisī. It was also recorded by Aḥmad (1/305), al-Tirmidhī (2/191—Būlāq edition), al-Nasāʾī (1/139), Ibn Mājah (1046), Ibn Khuzaymah in his Sahih (nos. 1696–1697), Ibn Ḥibbān (1749), and al-Ṭabarī in
