2454 — “Jesus will be taught his defense; Allah will teach it to him in His words: ‘And when Allah will say, “O Jesus, son of Mary, did you say to the people, ‘Take me and my mother as two gods besides Allah’?”’ (1) Allah will teach it to him: ‘Glory be to You! It was not for me to say that to which I had no right’ (2)—the entire verse.”
Al-Tirmidhi recorded it (3064), through Tawus, from Abu Hurayrah, who narrated it as attributed to the Companion up to the end of the first verse, then attributed the remainder to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, saying: Abu Hurayrah reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: “Allah will teach it to him ...” There is no doubt that the entire report is attributed to the Prophet. Al-Tirmidhi said: “A good, authentic hadith.”
I say: It meets Muslim’s criterion.
2455 — “A generation will arise who recite the Quran, but it will not pass beyond their collarbones. Whenever a generation emerges, it will be cut off, until the Dajjal emerges in their midst.”
Ibn Majah recorded it (1/74): Hisham ibn Ammar narrated to us; Yahya ibn Hamzah narrated to us; al-Awza'i narrated to us from Nafi', from Ibn Umar, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say ... and he cited it.
Al-Busiri said in his Zawa'id (13/1): “Its chain of transmission is authentic, and al-Bukhari relied upon every one of its narrators.”
I say: However, al-Hafiz said of Ibn Ammar: “He was truthful and a Quran reciter. When he grew old, he began to require prompting; therefore, his earlier hadiths are more sound.”
