2411 — “All the children of Adam will be under my banner on the Day of Resurrection, and I will be the first for whom the gates of Paradise are opened.”
Luwayn recorded it in his Hadith collection (1/1, a fragment of it): Hudayj informed us, from Abu Ishaq, from Amir—not al-Sha‘bi—from Silah ibn Zufar, from Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman, who said: The Companions of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: “Abraham was Allah’s close friend; Jesus was His Word and Spirit; and Allah spoke directly to Moses. So what have you been given, O Messenger of Allah?” He said: and then mentioned the above.
I say: The narrators in this chain of transmission are trustworthy and are narrators of Muslim, apart from Hudayj—namely, Hudayj ibn Mu‘awiyah ibn Hudayj—whom al-Hafiz described as “truthful, but prone to error.” Amir was Amir ibn Sa‘d al-Bajali. Abu Ishaq was ‘Amr ibn ‘Abd Allah al-Sabi‘i, who practised tadlis and whose memory later became impaired. Nevertheless, the hadith is authentic, for it has occurred separately in two hadiths whose sources were previously cited under numbers 774 and 1571.
2412 — “Woe to those of abundant wealth, except for one who distributes his wealth thus and thus and thus and thus”—four directions: “to his right, to his left, in front of him, and behind him.”
Ibn Majah recorded it (2/532) through Muhammad ibn Abi Layla, from ‘Atiyyah al-‘Awfi, from Abu Sa‘id al-Khudri, attributed to the Prophet. I say: This is a weak chain of transmission, for ‘Atiyyah al-‘Awfi was weak and practised tadlis.
