I say: This report is weak, in addition to being mursal, because this Bashīr is unknown, as al-Dhahabī stated. Ibn ʿAjlān contradicted him, reporting it from Saʿīd ibn Abī Saʿīd, from Abu Hurayrah: “A man was insulting Abu Bakr,” and he then related something similar. Abu Dawud also transmitted it in this connected form, mentioning Abu Hurayrah; and this is the sounder version, as al-Bukhari said, according to al-Hafiz al-ʿIraqi’s Takhrīj al-Iḥyāʾ (3/156).
I say: Likewise, he transmitted it in Sharḥ al-Sunnah (13/163/3586); both of them related it through Sufyan ibn ʿUyaynah, from Ibn ʿAjlān, with this chain. Yahya ibn Saʿīd also corroborated him, reporting from Ibn ʿAjlān: Saʿīd ibn Abī Saʿīd narrated it to us, with this chain. I say: This is a good chain of transmission, despite the well-known disagreement concerning Ibn ʿAjlān. Ahmad transmitted it, and it was previously cited under no. 2231, with an addition to the text of the hadith. It is further strengthened by the abbreviated mursal report of Zayd ibn Atīʿ. ʿAbd al-Razzaq transmitted it (11/117/20225), and its narrators are trustworthy.

ʿAbdullah ibn Ahmad transmitted it (5/135): Abu Salih Hadbah ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhab al-Marwazi narrated to us; al-Fadl ibn Musa narrated to us; ʿIsa ibn ʿUbayd narrated to us, from al-Rabiʿ ibn Anas, from Abu al-ʿAliyah, from Ubayy ibn Kaʿb, who said: “On the day of Uhud, sixty-four men from the Ansar and six from the Muhajirun were killed. The Companions of the Messenger of Allah said: ‘Should we have a day like this against the polytheists, we shall surely inflict more upon them.’ Then, on the day of the Conquest, an unknown man said: ‘There will be no Quraysh after today!’ Thereupon a caller of the Messenger of Allah announced: ‘Security is granted to all, black and white alike, except so-and-so and so-and-so’—certain people whom he named. Then Allah, Most High, revealed:
