Ahmad then transmitted it (4/423, 424) through Shaddad ibn Saʿid: Jabir ibn ʿAmr al-Rasibi narrated to me from Abu Barzah, with the wording: “Remove the harmful object from the road, and it will be counted for you as charity.”
Its chain of transmission is good, and it meets Muslim’s criteria.
- “We are the last of the communities, yet the first to be called to account. It will be said: ‘Where are the unlettered community and its Prophet?’ Thus, we are the last, yet the first.”
Ibn Majah transmitted it (2/575) from Hammad ibn Salamah, from Saʿid ibn Iyas al-Jurayri, from Abu Nadrah, from Ibn ʿAbbas, in a report attributed to the Prophet. I say: This chain of transmission is authentic, and its narrators are trustworthy, as al-Busiri stated in Zawaʾid Ibn Majah (262/1).
- “We are the descendants of al-Nadr ibn Kinanah: we do not cast aspersions upon our mother, nor do we disavow our father.”
Ibn Mandah transmitted it in al-Maʿrifah (2/2—no. 4442), and al-Khatib in al-Tarikh (7/128), from Hayyan ibn Bishr, who said: Yahya ibn Adam informed us; he said: al-Hasan ibn Salih ibn Hayy informed me, from his father, who said: al-Jufayshish al-Kindi informed us: “I said to the Prophet, ‘Whom are you descended from, O Messenger of Allah?’” He replied with the above. Ibn Mandah said: “ʿAqil ibn Talhah narrated something similar from Muslim ibn al-Haytham, from al-Ashʿath ibn Qays.”
Al-Tabarani also transmitted the hadith in al-Muʿjam al-Kabir (2/285–286/2190), as well as in al-Muʿjam al-Saghir (p. 44—Hind edition), through Salih ibn Hayy, from al-Jufayshish, with the same wording.
