2349 — “Whoever performs four rak‘ahs of the Duha prayer and four before the first [prayer], a house will be built for him in Paradise.”
Al-Tabarani narrated it in al-Awsat (59/1, according to its arrangement), from Sahl ibn Uthman, who said: Ibrahim ibn Muhammad al-Hamdani narrated to us, from Abdullah ibn Ayyash, from Abu Burdah, from Abu Musa, attributed to the Prophet. He said: “No one narrated it from Abu Burdah except Ibn Ayyash, and no one narrated it from him except Ibrahim; Sahl alone narrated it.”
I say: He is trustworthy and among the narrators used by Muslim. Ibrahim ibn Muhammad is, in my view, Ibrahim ibn Malik ibn Zubayd al-Hamdani al-Khaywani, the paternal uncle of Harun ibn Ishaq. Ibn Abi Hatim included his biography (1/1/129) and said: “I asked my father about him, and he replied: ‘There is no harm in him.’” Abdullah ibn Ayyash is of moderate standing. Muslim cited him in corroborating reports, and he is truthful but makes mistakes, as stated in al-Taqrib. Thus, the chain of transmission is good. And Allah knows best.
What is meant by “the first [prayer]” appears to me to be the Zuhr prayer. And Allah knows best.
2350 — “Whoever performs a prayer without completing it, it will be supplemented from his voluntary prayers until it is complete.”
Ibn Mandah narrated it in al-Ma‘rifah (2/109/1), and al-Diya’ in al-Mukhtarah (60/1–2), by way of al-Tabarani. It is found in al-Mu‘jam al-Kabir (18/22/37), from Abdullah ibn Ahmad ibn Hanbal, who said: Al-Haytham ibn Kharijah narrated to us; Muhammad ibn Humayr narrated to us, from Amr ibn Qays al-Sakuni, who said: I heard A’idh ibn Qirt say it, attributing it to the Prophet.
