1187), and Ibn Hibban (2443, al-Ihsan) transmitted it from him, as did al-Tirmidhi. The latter two added details concerning the number of rakʿahs. This detail also occurs in Ibn al-Isfahani’s hadith, except that he differed by stating: “and two rakʿahs before Zuhr,” whereas her hadith states: “four rakʿahs before Zuhr.” Perhaps this is the error of Ibn al-Isfahani to which al-Daraqutni alluded above.
Note: Al-Suyuti cited a hadith similar to this from the narration of al-Tabarani in al-Awsat, on the authority of Abu Dharr. I have not found it in Zawaʾid al-Muʿjamayn or in Majmaʿ al-Zawaʾid, except in the hadith of Abu Musa mentioned above. And Allah knows best. In al-Jamiʿ al-Kabir, he also attributed it to Ibn ʿAsakir. Perhaps the hadith is transmitted only by him, while al-Tabarani was mentioned alongside him inadvertently; then, when al-Suyuti transferred it to al-Jamiʿ al-Saghir, he attributed it to Ibn ʿAsakir alone. Or perhaps, in al-Jamiʿ al-Kabir, he inadvertently failed to add, after the notation for al-Tabarani’s al-Awsat: “from Abu Musa.” Thus the mistake occurred. And Allah knows best.
2348 — “Allah the Exalted has forbidden wine. Whoever is reached by this verse while he has any of it in his possession must neither drink it nor sell it.”
Muslim (5/39) and Abu Yaʿla in his Musnad (2/320/1056) transmitted it. The wording is that of Muslim: ʿUbayd Allah ibn ʿUmar al-Qawariri narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Aʿla ibn ʿAbd al-Aʿla, Abu Hammam, narrated to us; Saʿid al-Jurayri narrated to us, from Abu Nadrah, from Abu Saʿid al-Khudri, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ delivering a sermon in Medina, saying: “O people, Allah is giving indication concerning wine, and perhaps Allah will soon reveal a command concerning it. So whoever has any of it should sell it and benefit from it.”
