“Truthful, but he changed in his later years.” Al-Manawi said: “Al-Haythami said: Its narrators are trustworthy. Ibn Hajar said: Its chain of transmission is good.”
I say: Yet the hadith is authentic, for it has a strong supporting narration from the hadith of Abu Malik al-Ashʿari, which I documented in Ahkam al-Janaʾiz (37).
2347 — “Whoever performs twelve rakʿahs, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise.”
Al-Tabarani transmitted it in al-Awsat (1/58/2—its additional material): Al-Haytham ibn Khalaf narrated to us; Ahmad ibn Ibrahim al-Mawsili narrated to us; Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to us, from Harun ibn Abi Ishaq al-Kufi, that he heard Abu Burdah narrating from his father, Abu Musa, tracing it back to the Prophet. He said: “It is narrated from Abu Musa only through this chain of transmission; Hammad alone transmitted it.”
I say: Ahmad (4/413) also transmitted it through this route, except that he said: “Harun ibn Ishaq al-Kufi.” Perhaps the correct reading in al-Tabarani’s narration is to omit either the word “ibn” or “Abi,” for he is Harun Abu Ishaq. This is how al-Bukhari mentioned him in al-Tarikh (4/2/225), saying: “He heard Abu Burdah ...” He then cited this hadith and said: “Musaddad and ʿArim reported it from Hammad ibn Zayd.” Ibn Abi Hatim likewise mentioned him (4/2/99). Thus, from Ahmad’s narration we learn that his father’s name was Ishaq. Al-Haythami also mentioned him thus in Majmaʿ al-Zawaʾid (2/231), saying:
