Salamah al-Muradi, from Ubaydah al-Salmani, who said: I came upon Abdullah ibn Masud while he was in his vestibule, and he said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say...” Then he cited it.
I say: This chain of transmission is weak. Its narrators are trustworthy—although al-Muradi has some weakness—apart from Abu Yahya al-Taymi, whose name was Ismaʿil ibn Ibrahim al-Ahwal. He is weak, as stated in al-Taqrib. Ibn ʿAdi said: “Among the hadiths he narrates, there is none with a rejected text, and his hadith may be recorded.”
I say: He was not alone in narrating it, for Ibn ʿAsakir said immediately afterward: “Yaʿqub said: Ibn Ubaydah also narrated it from al-Aʿmash.” I say: I do not know whom he meant by this Ibn Ubaydah. In any case, the hadith is authentic, as it is corroborated by his ﷺ statement: “Abu Bakr is in Paradise...” the hadith. It has been cited in my notes on Sharh al-Tahawiyyah (pp. 488–489).

It was narrated by Abu Abdullah ibn Marwan al-Qurashi in al-Fawaʾid (25/113/2): Muhammad ibn Ishaq ibn al-Huways narrated to us; Hisham ibn Ammar narrated to us; Ibn ʿAyyash narrated to us; Ibn Jurayj narrated to us, who said: And Ibn Ziyad, from Ibn Shihab, from Ubayd Allah ibn Utbah, from Ibn Shihab—thus in the original; the correct reading is:
