2306 — “Whoever removes from the path of the Muslims something that harms them, Allah records for him thereby a good deed; and whoever has a good deed recorded for him by Allah, Allah will admit him thereby into Paradise.”
It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in al-Awsaṭ (1/94/2 of al-Jamʿ bayn al-Muʿjamayn), through Abū Bakr ibn Abī Maryam, who said: Ḥumayd ibn ʿUqbah ibn Rūmān narrated to me from Abū al-Dardāʾ, attributed to the Prophet. He said: “It is narrated from Abū al-Dardāʾ only through this chain of transmission; Abū Bakr alone narrated it.”
I say: He is weak because he became confused in his later years. Ibn Abī Ḥātim gave Ḥumayd ibn ʿUqbah ibn Rūmān a biographical notice (1/2/226), citing two reliable narrators who narrated from him. Ibn Ḥibbān did likewise in al-Thiqāt (1/41, Hindi edition).
Al-Haythamī also cited the hadith in Majmaʿ al-Zawāʾid (3/135) with this wording and said: “It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in al-Awsaṭ. Its wording in al-Kabīr is that the Prophet said: ‘Whoever removes from the path of the Muslims something that harms them, Allah records for him thereby one hundred good deeds’”—and he added nothing further. It contains Abū Bakr ibn Abī Maryam, who is weak.”
The hadith has a corroborating report through al-Khalīl ibn Aḥmad, who said: al-Mustanīr ibn Akhḍar narrated to us, saying:
