283), and al-Bukhārī (4/494).

As for the hadith of Abū Dharr, it was narrated by Aḥmad (5/153, 169), Muslim (8/67), and Ibn Mājah (3821). Its wording and documentation have already preceded under no. 581.

As for the hadith of Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī, it is narrated from him by ʿAṭiyyah. Aḥmad narrated it (3/40).
2288 — “The believer is like a piece of gold: its owner blows upon it, yet it neither changes nor diminishes. By Him in Whose Hand is my soul, the believer is like a bee: it consumes what is good, produces what is good, and alights without breaking or spoiling anything.”
It was narrated by Aḥmad (2/199), al-Rāmahurmuzī in al-Amthāl (Parables) (50/1–2), and al-Aṣbahānī in al-Targhīb (Encouragement) (11/2), through Maṭar, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Buraydah, from Abū Sabrah, who said: “ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ told me that he heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say”—and he then cited it. At its beginning, he added: “Allah detests obscenity and deliberate indecency. By Him in Whose Hand is my soul, the Hour will not come until the trustworthy person betrays his trust and the treacherous person is entrusted, until obscenity, deliberate indecency, the severing of kinship ties, and bad neighbourliness become widespread.”
I say: This is a weak chain of transmission. No one declared Abū Sabrah trustworthy apart from Ibn Ḥibbān, and Ibn Maʿīn said: “I do not know him.” Maṭar is Ibn Ṭahmān al-Warrāq, a truthful narrator who made many errors, as stated in al-Taqrīb. However, he was corroborated regarding the aforementioned addition by Ḥusayn al-Muʿallim, who narrated to us from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Buraydah through the same chain. Aḥmad narrated it (2/162–163). He was also corroborated regarding the entire hadith by Qatādah, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Buraydah, through the same chain.
