2276 — “There is no believing servant but that he has a sin he commits from time to time, or a sin in which he persists and does not abandon until he leaves this world. Indeed, the believer was created prone to temptation, ever repentant, and forgetful: when reminded, he remembers.”
It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī (3/136/2): al-Ḥasan ibn al-ʿAbbās al-Rāzī narrated to us; Aḥmad ibn Abī Surayj al-Rāzī informed us; ʿAlī ibn Ḥafṣ al-Madāʾinī informed us; ʿUbayd al-Maktab al-Kūfī informed us, from ʿIkrimah, from Ibn ʿAbbās, attributed to the Prophet.
I say: This is an authentic chain of transmission. Its narrators are trustworthy and among the narrators of the Ṣaḥīḥ collections, apart from al-Ḥasan ibn al-ʿAbbās al-Rāzī, who is trustworthy, as al-Khaṭīb stated (7/397). He died in 289 AH. It appears that he was corroborated, for al-Haythamī said in al-Majmaʿ (10/201): “Al-Ṭabarānī recorded it in al-Kabīr and al-Awsaṭ, in abridged form; and the narrators of one of al-Kabīr’s chains are trustworthy.” I say: Yet I did not find it in al-Awsaṭ under the entry for this al-Rāzī. And Allah knows best.
2277 — “Whenever a servant is felled by a bout of illness, Allah raises him from it purified.”
It was recorded by al-Rūyānī in his Musnad (30/225/2), and from him by Ibn ʿAsākir (7/19/2): Mālik ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Sayf, Abū Saʿd al-Tujībī—an Egyptian—informed us; ʿAbd Allāh ibn Yūsuf informed us; Khālid ibn Yazīd al-Dimashqī informed us, from Sālim ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Muḥāribī, from Sulaymān ibn Ḥabīb al-Muḥāribī, from Abū Umāmah, attributed to the Prophet.
I say: This is a good chain of transmission. All the narrators above Mālik are trustworthy and well known, and are among the narrators included in
