of Allah! Your little servant—supplicate to Allah for him.” He then prayed for me for every good thing, and among the last supplications he made for me was that he said—then he mentioned it.
It was recorded by Muslim; al-Bukhari in al-Adab al-Mufrad (88); al-Tayalisi (2027); Ahmad (3/193–194); and Abd ibn Humayd in his Musnad (fol. 165/2). Abd ibn Humayd also narrated it (164/2), as did Ahmad (3/248), through two other routes from Thabit, with similar wording. Ibn Humayd said, “And admit him into Paradise,” in place of, “And bless for him what You have given him.” Its chain is authentic according to Muslim’s conditions. He added: “He said: I have indeed seen two of them, and I hope for the third.”
The fourth is from al-Ja'd Abu Uthman, who said: Anas ibn Malik narrated to us: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by, and my mother, Umm Sulaym, heard his voice. She said, “May my father and mother be sacrificed for you, O Messenger of Allah—Anays!” The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) then made three supplications for me. I have seen two of them in this world, and I hope for the third in the Hereafter. Recorded by Muslim.
The fifth is from Humayd, from Anas: “The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered upon Umm Sulaym, and she said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, I have a small request.’ He said, ‘What is it?’ She said, ‘Anas, your servant.’ He left no good of the Hereafter or this world for which he did not supplicate for me: ‘O Allah...’ Indeed, I was among the wealthiest of the Ansar, and my daughter Aminah told me that, by the time al-Hajjaj came to Basra, more than 120 of my direct descendants had been buried.”
It was recorded by al-Bukhari (1982), whose wording is cited here, and Ibn Hibban in his Sahih (9/158/
