—except as Allah wills, especially since it is authentically reported from Jābir himself that he greeted the Prophet while he was praying, and the Prophet returned his greeting by a gesture, as recorded in Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim (2/71) and elsewhere. It is also documented in Ṣaḥīḥ Abī Dāwūd, along with other hadiths that are more explicit, under the chapter: “Returning a Greeting during Prayer” (856–860).
2213 — “Whatever property a child or parent acquires belongs to his agnatic heirs, whoever they may be.”
Abū Dāwūd (2/20), Ibn Mājah (2/165), and Aḥmad (1/27) narrated it through Ḥusayn al-Muʿallim, from ʿAmr ibn Shuʿayb, from his father, from his grandfather: “Riʾāb ibn Ḥudhayfah married a woman who bore him three boys. Their mother then died, and they inherited from her her dwellings and the patronage rights over her freed slaves. ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ was the agnatic heir of her sons, so he took them to Syria, where they died. 2214 — “No one has bestowed a greater favor upon me than Abū Bakr—may Allah be pleased with him. He supported me with his person and his wealth, and gave me his daughter in marriage.”
Al-Ṭabarānī narrated it in al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr (11/191/11461), as did Ibn ʿAdī (31/2) and Ibn ʿAsākir in his History (9/278/1), through Muḥammad ibn Ṣāliḥ ibn Mihrān, who said: Arṭāʾah Abū Ḥātim informed us, from Ibn Jurayj, from ʿAṭāʾ, from Ibn ʿAbbās, who said: He then mentioned it as attributed to the Prophet.
