2210 — “Whenever a group of people sit remembering Allah, a caller from heaven calls out to them: ‘Rise, for you have been forgiven; your evil deeds have been changed into good deeds.’”
Al-Ṭabarānī narrated it in al-Awsaṭ (434) through Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAbd al-Malik al-Zaybaqī, Abū Isḥāq: Maimūn ibn ʿAjlān narrated to us from Maimūn ibn Siyāḥ, from Anas, attributed to the Prophet. He said: “No one narrated it from Maimūn except Ismāʿīl.”
I say: He is trustworthy and was among the shaykhs of Yaʿqūb ibn Sufyān, who mentioned him in his Tārīkh and said: “He was trustworthy, though they used to criticize him for selling mercury.” As for Maimūn ibn ʿAjlān, Ibn Abī Ḥātim (4/1/239) reported from his father: “A shaykh.” Remarkably, al-Ḥāfiẓ states in al-Lisān: “I do not know of any hadith from him!”
Maimūn ibn Mūsā al-Murāʾī corroborated him. Aḥmad (3/142) said: Muḥammad ibn Bakr narrated to us: Maimūn al-Murāʾī informed us: Maimūn ibn Siyāḥ narrated to us with it. This is a good chain of transmission, Allah willing. Concerning Maimūn ibn Siyāḥ, al-Ḥāfiẓ said: “Truthful, but makes mistakes.” Maimūn al-Murāʾī is truthful.
Al-Mundhirī said in al-Targhīb (2/233): “Aḥmad narrated it, and its narrators are relied upon in the Ṣaḥīḥ, apart from Maimūn al-Murāʾī—with the mīm and rāʾ vowelled with fatḥah, followed by an alif, a nisbah to Imruʾ al-Qays—as well as Abū Yaʿlā, al-Bazzār, and al-Ṭabarānī. Al-Ṭabarānī also narrated it”
