He also recorded it (2/542) through ʿAffān ibn Muslim: “Ḥammād ibn Salamah narrated to us,” with this addition, and said: “Authentic according to Muslim’s criteria.” Al-Dhahabī agreed with him. It was also narrated by Ibn Saʿd (1/6), Aḥmad (3/152, 229, 240, and 254), and al-Bayhaqī in The Names (p. 386).
2159 — “When Allah breathed the spirit into Adam, peace be upon him, and it reached his head, he sneezed and said: ‘All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds.’ Allah said to him: ‘May Allah have mercy on you.’”
It was recorded by Ibn Ḥibbān (2081) and al-Ḥākim (4/263), through two routes from Ḥammād ibn Salamah, from Thābit, from Anas, attributed to the Prophet; except that al-Ḥākim narrated it as attributed to the Companion. He said: “Authentic according to Muslim’s criteria, even though it is attributed to the Companion.” Al-Dhahabī agreed with him, and they are correct. The hadith also has a supporting report attributed to the Prophet, on the authority of Abū Hurayrah, which is documented in Takhrīj al-Sunnah of Ibn Abī ʿĀṣim (204 and 205).
Note: Al-Suyūṭī included this hadith in al-Jāmiʿ al-Ṣaghīr, but not in al-Jāmiʿ al-Kabīr, on the authority of the two aforementioned sources, with the addition: “it moved about and flew away.” This addition is not found in either of them, so I do not know where he obtained it.
2160 — “No man who was present at Badr and al-Ḥudaybiyyah will enter the Fire.”
It was recorded by Aḥmad (3/396), from Abū Bakr ibn ʿAyyāsh, who said: Al-Aʿmash narrated to me from Abū Sufyān, from Jābir, attributing it to the Prophet. I say: Its chain of transmission is good; its narrators are trustworthy and are among the narrators of the Ṣaḥīḥ collections.
