Its chain is also authentic.
ʿAbd al-Razzāq also narrated (9045) through an authentic chain from Mujāhid, who said: “I came upon Ibn ʿAbbās while he was seeking refuge with Allah between the Corner and the door.” Ibn Abī Shaybah also transmitted it in his Muṣannaf (4/93), but mentioned Ibn ʿAmr and Ibn ʿUmar alongside Ibn ʿAbbās. ʿAbd al-Razzāq further narrated (9051) through an authentic chain from Nāfiʿ that Ibn ʿUmar would not cling to any part of the House. However, Mujāhid’s report is preferable, because it affirms what the other report negates; and, as established in the principles of jurisprudence, an affirming report takes precedence over a negating one.
As for the hadith, “The space between the Corner and the Station is the Multazam; whoever supplicates ...,” its chain is very weak, as I explained in al-Ḍaʿīfah (4865).
2139 — “The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, passed by some women and greeted them.”
It was narrated by Aḥmad (4/357 and 363), Ibn al-Sunnī in ʿAmal al-Yawm (221), and al-Ṭabarānī in al-Kabīr (118/1), from Jābir, from Ṭāriq al-Tamīmī, from Jarīr, who related it. Aḥmad added an unnamed man between Jābir and Ṭāriq. I say: This is a weak chain. Jābir is Ibn Yazīd al-Juʿfī, who is weak. In the second place in the Musnad, he appears as Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh, but this is perhaps an error. The name Ṭāriq al-Tamīmī occurs in both places in the Musnad, whereas Ibn al-Sunnī and al-Ṭabarānī have “al-Taymī.” I have been unable to find a biographical notice for him. Nevertheless, the hadith is authentic on the authority of Asmāʾ bint Yazīd al-Anṣāriyyah.
