Silsilat al-Ahadith al-SahihahNasir al-Din al-Albani

Muslim (7/86), al-Tirmidhī as well, Ibn Saʿd (1/425), and al-Ṭabarānī (3/94/2 and 98/1) narrated through various routes from Simāk ibn Ḥarb, from Jābir ibn Samurah, who said: “I saw the Seal between the shoulder blades of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace: a red lump like a pigeon’s egg.”

2094 — “He was compassionate, and no one came to him without his promising him something and fulfilling it for him, if he had it.”

Al-Bukhārī reported it in al-Adab al-Mufrad (278) and in al-Tārīkh (2/2/211), from Suḥāmah ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn al-Aṣamm, who said: I heard Anas ibn Mālik say—and he mentioned it—“A Bedouin came to him and took hold of his garment, saying: ‘Only a little remains of what I need, and I fear I may forget it.’ So he stood with him until he had attended to his need; then he returned and prayed.”

I say: This is a good chain of transmission. Its narrators are reliable and are narrators of al-Bukhārī, apart from this Suḥāmah. Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in al-Thiqāt, and a number of reliable narrators transmitted from him. Al-Ḥāfiẓ said: “Acceptable.” In my view, this is overly restrictive. On many occasions, in comparable cases, I have known him to say: “Truthful”; and that is more appropriate, since he was a Successor whose reliability was affirmed.

The opening portion of it has another route. Al-Ṭayālisī said in his Musnad (2432, according to its arrangement): Ḥammād ibn Zayd narrated to us, from Ayyūb, from Anas, with this wording, adding: “toward his dependents.” I say: This is an authentic chain of transmission; its narrators are narrators of the two Ṣaḥīḥs. Ibn Ḥibbān’s statement in al-Thiqāt—“It is said that he heard from Anas, but I do not consider this sound”—does not render it defective on account of a break in the chain, for al-Ḥāfiẓ stated categorically in al-Tahdhīb that he saw Anas, and his age
