Abu Nuʿaym also reported, through al-Hasan, from Ḥiṭṭān ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Raqāshī, from ʿUbādah ibn al-Ṣāmit, that “whenever revelation descended upon the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, he would be distressed by it, and his face would become drawn.” This hadith has a strong corroborating report in the hadith of ʿĀʾishah, may Allah be pleased with her, concerning the incident of the slander. Aḥmad (6/197), al-Bukhārī and Muslim, and others reported it.
2089 — “He was the most compassionate of people toward dependents and children.”
Al-Raʾīs ʿUthmān ibn Muḥammad Abū ʿAmr reported it in his Hadith collection (208/1), from al-ʿAbbās ibn al-Walīd, who said: Wuhayb narrated to us, from Ayyūb, from ʿAmr ibn Saʿīd, from Anas ibn Mālik, from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
I say: This is an authentic chain of transmission. Its narrators are trustworthy and are among Muslim’s narrators, apart from al-ʿAbbās ibn al-Walīd, who is truthful. Abū al-Shaykh also reported it in Akhlāq al-Nabī (p. 65): Abū Yaʿlā informed us; al-ʿAbbās al-Narsī informed us through the same chain, but without the word “dependents.” Muslim (7/76) reported it through Ismāʿīl ibn ʿUlayyah, from Ayyūb, with the wording “dependents,” but without the word “children.”
2090 — “The oath most frequently sworn by the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was: ‘No, by the Director of hearts.’”
Ibn Mājah (1/644) reported it from ʿAbbād ibn Isḥāq, from Ibn Shihāb, from Sālim, from his father, who said: He then cited it. I say: This is a good chain of transmission. Its narrators are trustworthy and meet Muslim’s criteria, apart from Abū Isḥāq al-Shāfiʿī, Ibrāhīm ibn Muḥammad ibn al-ʿAbbās, Ibn Mājah’s shaykh in this chain; he is trustworthy.
