his father, according to the stronger view, as al-Hafiz stated. Abu Ishaq explicitly stated that he heard it from Abu Ubaydah in Shuʿbah’s narration from him, with similar wording. Ahmad also reported it (3719, 3891).
2085 — “Whenever he disliked something, we could tell it from his face.”
Reported by al-Tayalisi (2329), ʿAbd Allah ibn al-Mubarak (676), the two Shaykhs in their Sahihs, al-Bukhari also in al-Adab al-Mufrad (599), and Ibn Saʿd (1/368), from the hadith of Abu Saʿid al-Khudri. It has a supporting narration from the hadith of ʿImran ibn Husayn, attributed to the Prophet, with the same wording. Abu al-Shaykh reported it in Akhlaq al-Nabi (p. 71), and Ibn ʿAdi (f. 122/2), through al-Khalil ibn Murrah, from Qatadah, from Abu al-Sawwar, from him. Al-Khalil ibn Murrah is weak. It also has another supporting narration from the hadith of Anas, with the wording: “...that could be seen in his face.” Al-Tabarani reported it in al-Awsat, as cited in al-Jami al-Saghir; al-Bazzar also reported it (p. 241) with the aforementioned wording of Abu Saʿid. Its narrators are trustworthy.
