2082 — “On the day before the Day of Tarwiyah, he would address the people and inform them of their pilgrimage rites.”
Reported by al-Hakim (1/461), and through him by al-Bayhaqi (5/111), from Abu Qurrah, from Musa ibn ʿUqbah, from Nafiʿ, from Ibn ʿUmar, as a saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Al-Hakim said: “Its chain of transmission is authentic.” Al-Dhahabi concurred and added: “Abu Qurrah al-Zubaydi was alone in narrating it.” I say: He is trustworthy, and his name is Musa ibn Tariq al-Yamani. ʿAmr ibn Mujammiʿ also narrated it from Musa ibn ʿUqbah. Ibn Khuzaymah recorded it in his Sahih (folio 246/1). This ʿAmr was deemed weak, as al-Dhahabi stated.
2083 — “When he walked, it was as though he were leaning forward.”
Reported by Abu Dawud (2/297), al-Hakim (4/281), Abu al-Shaykh in The Prophet’s Character (p. 98), and Abu al-ʿAbbas al-Asamm in His Hadith Collection (vol. 3, no. 127), from Humayd al-Tawil, who heard Anas ibn Malik say this as a saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Al-Hakim said: “Authentic according to the criteria of al-Bukhari and Muslim.” Al-Dhahabi concurred, and it is as they said. Ibn Saʿd also reported it (1/413), through Hammad ibn Salamah, from Thabit, from Anas, with the wording: “When he walked, he inclined forward.” Its chain of transmission is authentic according to the criteria of Muslim, who recorded it in his Sahih (7/81), as did Ahmad (3/228 and 270), al-Darimi (1/31), and Abu al-Shaykh as well.
