there (145).
The second is from ʿAbd Allah ibn Masʿūd, who said: “I came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, during his illness, while he was suffering from a severe fever. I said, ‘You are indeed suffering from a severe fever.’ I said, ‘That is because you will have a double reward.’ He replied, ‘Yes, that is indeed so. No Muslim is afflicted by any harm—even a thorn or anything greater—except that Allah sheds his sins from him just as the leaves of a tree fall.’” It was recorded by al-Bukhārī (10/91), Muslim (8/14), al-Dārimī (2/316), Ibn Ḥibbān (701), and Aḥmad (1/381, 441, 455).
2048 — “I had prohibited you from keeping the meat of the sacrificial animals beyond three days, so that those with means might give generously to those without means. Now eat as you wish, feed others, and store it.”
It was recorded by Muslim (6/82), though he did not cite its wording; by al-Tirmidhī (1/285); and by al-Bayhaqī in al-Shuʿab (2/395/2), through several routes from Sufyān al-Thawrī, from ʿAlqamah ibn Marthad, from Sulaymān ibn Buraydah, from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said it. Al-Tirmidhī said: “A good, authentic hadith.”
2049 — “O Umm Hānī! We have granted protection to whomever you have granted protection, and given security to whomever you have given security.”
Aḥmad recorded it (6/341 and 343) through Abū Dhiʾb, from Saʿīd ibn Abī Saʿīd al-Maqburī, from Abū Murrah, the client of Fākhitah—Umm Hānī bint Abī Ṭālib—from her. She said: “On the day of the Conquest of Mecca, I granted protection to two men from among my in-laws. I brought them into a house and locked the door upon them. Then my brother, ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib, set upon them with his sword. She said: I went to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, but I did not find him; instead, I found Fāṭimah, whose attitude toward me was harsher than that of her husband. She said: Then the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, came, with traces of dust upon him. I informed him, and he said it.”
